Microblading in Pickering

Pickering Microblading & Powder Brows

Microblading for the eyebrows can go by a few different names, such as micropigmentation, eyebrow embroidery, 3D eyebrows and semi permanent tattoo.
No matter the name, the procedure is designed to give you the most natural looking hair strokes in the cosmetic tattooing industry. The technique of microblading dates back roughly 25 years ago in most parts of Asia and Europe. The style and procedure has also changed throughout those years. Although it is relatively new here in Canada, microblading has made dramatic strides in the way it is performed today.

What Does it Involve?

The Maintenance

Results can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on different factors such as, your skin type, post care and your skin care regime. Post care is the second most important stage of this procedure and is essential to the healing process. Touch ups are recommended 4 weeks after your initial procedure and then once a year, if needed, to retain the shape and saturation of pigment and to prevent natural fading.

Microblading vs Permanent Makeup

Traditional eyebrow tattoo uses needles on a rotary/coil machine to push ink 7 layers deep into the skin, microblading uses a manual blade and only targets 3 layers of skin. Because the pigment sits so superficially in the skin the strokes are sharp, crisp, and they mimic the look of real hair! Your new brows will last anywhere between 1-3 years predicated on home care and the environmental exposure it receives. Microblading pigments by PhiBrows will not change color as they lose saturation over time. Thanks to the 1-3 expected life of the semi permanent tattoo, the client can change the way their brows look as trends change.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Its natural to be concerned and hesitant to get your eyebrows microbladed. A few of the most common concerns are “Will my eyebrows be symmetrical?” “Are they going be dark?”, “Will they be too Thick?” ” I have some skin conditions and i am not sure if i am a good candidate.”

All these are great questions and i would love to answer them personally. Come in for a free Consultation.

The Healing Process

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Microblading Last?

The microblading procedure is performed by a certified microblading technician and takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. During this session, I will shape and design the client’s brows for client approval. I will then follow with pigment colour selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure.

The client is to come in for a follow up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place within 8 weeks of the initial session. This session will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

Does Microblading Hurt?

After the first pass, you are numbed with a topical anesthetic, therefore the level of pain experienced is very minimal. That being said, everyone’s skin and pain threshold are different, so everyone will have varying experiences. Some feel nothing at all. We are regularly given the expression “That’s it!?” by our clients when we begin microblading due to how little is felt.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Microblading is a 2 part procedure that should be completed within 6-8 weeks.

Pigments during microblading are not implanted as deep into the skin as a traditional tattoo, or even micropigmentation with an electric permanent makeup device. This allows for healed results of very fine, thin, and crisp hair lines, however, results do not last as long as traditional methods. A colour boost is required usually between 18-24 months. A touch-up may be required at 12 months or sooner for oily-skinned clients, those who tan often, or or often expose brow area to certain chemicals (facial peels, chlorine, anti-aging products, etc.). Pigment retention varies depending on skin type, age, aftercare, immune system, medications, certain chemicals, and the type of pigment used.

Do you have to Shave off my eyebrows off To Get it Done?

No! Microblading is done to enhance what you already have to make the eyebrows look as natural as possible. Microblading is a great solution for over-plucked eyebrows, or who those who have naturally very light and thin eyebrows, weak hair-follicles and want to accentuate the look of eyebrows on their face. Microblading can also be a great solution for people with alopecia or scar covering. It is not necessary, nor recommended for a client to get rid of any of the natural hair you already have.

Should I Get My Eyebrows Waxed Or Threaded Before my Microblading Appointment?

If your brows haven’t been waxed or cleaned up for a while, I recommend that you get them waxed at least 2 days before your microblading appointment. If you chose to do so, you can come see me for a Waxing appointment during which I will Brow Map and wax your brows based on your final microbladed shape. During your microblading appointment, I will shape, clean up and remove all stray hairs that don’t belong with your new shape. You will leave with clean, flawless, beautiful brows!

How Long Does it Take To Heal?

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 30-50% as it heals and slightly shrink in size. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.
